10000 Things Titanium
Fiction

Article written by Paul M
Oct 3, 2004.

After the fabulous rumbling genius of Foodchain it’s a tad disappointing to hear the 70s Stones macho posturing of their live show reflected in their follow-up single. Although you know, actually make that just hope, that there’s three tons of irony smeared over this pub rock garage effort it’s all too close to the bone (huh huh er huh). With a chorus that goes “I think I need titanium boxer shorts, I just can’t cope with all these dirty thoughts” and lines like “You think I love you but you haven’t seen my other girl yet” you know you’re dealing with primal music and attitudes that have not progressed too far away from the rock n roll caves. Slightly more interesting are the b-sides; the catchy if limited D4 style garage of Can’t Do Nothing and the post-punk and bongos cover of Gang of Four's Damaged Goods.
